In the presence of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, a Master’s thesis defense was held today, Monday, 7 September 2026, at the College of Electronics Engineering. The thesis was presented by researcher Khalid Nahidh Nayef and was entitled:
“UAV-Enabled Wireless Communication Systems.”
The thesis investigated the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as mobile aerial base stations to support communication networks, particularly during large-scale public events that place increasing pressure on terrestrial networks.
The researcher developed an enhanced algorithm for UAV path planning and obstacle avoidance. The results demonstrated its superiority in terms of planning speed and efficiency compared with a number of other algorithms, in addition to its ability to generate safe and smooth paths.
At the conclusion of the defense, the University President praised the scientific efforts made, affirming the University of Ninevah’s support for researchers and postgraduate students and its commitment to encouraging research that offers innovative solutions to contemporary technological and engineering challenges.
