Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah Participates in the Defense of a Master’s Thesis at the University of Mosul

As part of efforts to strengthen scientific and academic cooperation between the University of Ninevah and the University of Mosul, Prof. Dr. Maysar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutachi, Dean of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah, participated as a committee member and supervisor in the defense of a Master’s thesis submitted by MSc candidate Bushra Mohammed Yassin Hamdoun at the College of Pharmacy, University of Mosul, on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

The thesis, entitled “Enteric-Coated Metformin Tablets: Properties and a Novel Application,” aimed to formulate and evaluate enteric-coated metformin tablets, assess their efficacy, and compare them with immediate-release metformin and liraglutide.

The study findings demonstrated the potential of using enteric coating for metformin to target drug delivery to the intestine, while achieving improvements in several metabolic indicators in experimental animals. These findings suggest that this approach holds promise for the development of future pharmaceutical applications and opens the door for further scientific research in this field.

The Dean’s participation in academic discussions underscores the active presence of the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah in academic forums and reflects its commitment to strengthening research collaboration and promoting the exchange of scientific expertise among higher education institutions.
