As part of the scientific and academic cooperation between Iraqi universities, Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Abdul-Salam Hamid Al-Sultan, a faculty member in the Department of Medical Microbiology at the College of Medicine, University of Nineveh, participated as a member of the examination committee for a Master’s thesis at the College of Education for Women, University of Mosul, submitted by researcher Zahraa Ahmed Mahmoud and entitled:
“The Effect of Cholecalciferol and Phylloquinone on the Virulence of Staphylococcus aureus Causing Burn Infections”
The thesis defense was held on Wednesday, 2 September 2026, and the study evaluated the effects of vitamins D3 and K1, both individually and in combination, on selected virulence factors of Staphylococcus aureus isolated from infected burns. The study aimed to explore therapeutic strategies targeting bacterial virulence.
The examination committee consisted of Professor Dr. Sumaya Yassin Abdullah, Chair; Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Abdul-Salam Hamid Al-Sultan, Member; Lecturer Dr. Suja Diaa Al-Din Mustafa, Member; and Assistant Professor Dr. Rasmia Omar Sultan, Member and Supervisor.
Following an extensive scientific discussion, the thesis was approved, and the researcher was awarded her Master’s degree.
This participation reflects the active scientific engagement of the faculty members of the College of Medicine at the University of Nineveh and their contribution to supporting postgraduate studies, strengthening academic cooperation, and promoting the exchange of expertise among Iraqi universities.
