A Member of the University of Ninevah Obtains a Master’s Degree from the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul

Under the supervision and membership of the President of the University of Ninevah, Consultant in Pediatrics and Pediatric Surgery, Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani,

Mr. Hizabr Mohammed Sultan, a staff member at the College of Nursing at our university, obtained a Master’s degree in Nursing from the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, for his thesis titled:
“Neonatal Intestinal Obstruction: Risk Factors and Early Outcomes in Mosul Hospitals – A Case-Control Study.”

The discussion was attended by Dr. Abdulrahim Ibrahim Jasim, Assistant President of the University of Mosul for Scientific Affairs, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Mohsen Hussein, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul, Professor Dr. Radwan Hussein Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Ninevah, and Dr. Subhi Hussein Makhlif.

This thesis defense aligns with the achievement of the fourth Sustainable Development Goal (Quality Education). The study aimed to analyze the clinical factors associated with cases of neonatal intestinal obstruction and to evaluate early outcomes of these cases in several hospitals in Mosul, using the “case-control study” methodology.

The findings of the study revealed several risk factors influencing the development of such cases. It also showed that early intervention and accurate diagnosis contribute significantly to improving clinical outcomes and reducing complications. The study recommended enhancing the competencies of nursing and medical staff in neonatal intensive care units through specialized training programs.

The discussion committee consisted of the following members:

4. Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Khudair – Member and Supervisor / College of Medicine – University of Ninevah, who played a key role in the academic supervision and close follow-up of the student during the preparation of the thesis.

The session was marked by a productive academic discussion, including an in-depth review of the research topics and a set of scientific remarks and recommendations that enriched the content and enhanced its academic quality. At the end of the session, the committee decided to grant Mr. Hizabr Mohammed Sultan a Master’s degree in Nursing Sciences after making the required modifications.
