In implementation of the annual plan for guidance and awareness activities, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Law organized an educational lecture entitled “Drugs Between Reality and Protection.” The lecture was delivered by Assistant Lecturer Ameen Jalal Ameen from the Department of Private Law, in the presence of a number of students and staff members of the college.
This activity was held as part of the college’s commitment to enhancing students’ psychological and behavioral awareness, and to shedding light on one of the most dangerous phenomena threatening young people, due to its negative effects on mental and physical health, as well as its social and legal repercussions.
The lecture addressed the concept of drugs and their various types, clarifying the difference between the legitimate medical use of certain medications and their misuse outside legal and medical frameworks. It also reviewed the main factors that may lead some young people to substance abuse, including psychological pressures, bad company, lack of awareness, and failure to invest free time properly.
Given the specialized nature of the College of Law, the lecture also highlighted the legal aspects related to drug crimes, the penalties imposed for such offenses, and the serious consequences they may have on a student’s academic and professional future.
The lecture witnessed positive engagement from students through questions and discussions that enriched the session, reflecting their level of awareness and concern regarding this important issue.
At the conclusion of the event, the University Psychological Counseling Unit at the College of Law reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its awareness programs aimed at building a conscious and responsible student personality, capable of facing challenges and shaping a bright future.
