⸻
Opening Remarks
The symposium opened with a speech by the University President, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, in which he emphasized that the current situation in Palestine represents a stark example of the absence of international justice. He highlighted that the systematic Zio.nist violations of Palestinian human rights can only be confronted through unified legal and human rights efforts at both Arab and international levels.
The Dean of the College of Law, Prof. Dr. Zina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, welcomed the distinguished audience and affirmed that:
“Occupation is not only measured by the scale of destruction and bloodshed, but also by the attempts to erase identity, distort history, and fabricate facts.”
She stressed that the Palestinian cause is not merely a political issue, but a humanitarian and moral cause that requires a firm and principled stance from all free peoples. She stated:
“Here, in this academic institution, we believe that a truthful word is no less powerful than an honorable weapon, and that awareness is the strongest tool in confronting campaigns of distortion, normalization, and forced forgetting.”
