Under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Professor Dr. Maysar Mohammed Al-Qutachi, the college conducted an applied scientific experiment in the college garden, with the participation of a number of students. This activity was part of the Physical Pharmacy course and was supervised by the course instructor, Assistant Professor Dr. Hassan Saad Al-Diwachi.
The experiment aimed to illustrate the behavior of non-Newtonian fluids, which flow easily under slow movement, but whose viscosity increases and may turn semi solid-like when subjected to sudden stress. This occurs due to the closer interaction of molecules and the increase in frictional forces between them.
The Dean emphasized the importance of this phenomenon in the pharmaceutical field, particularly in the design of dosage forms such as creams and ointments. He also highlighted its medical applications, including the use of hyaluronic acid in intra-articular injections to reduce friction and absorb shocks.
This experiment is part of the scientific activities that the college is keen to organize in order to simplify theoretical concepts and strengthen their connection to practical applications.
