Prof. Dr. Zeina Ghanem Al-Obaidi, Dean of the College of Law at the University of Ninevah, has co-authored and published a scientific research paper titled “The Role of the Iraqi Judiciary in Protecting Society from Indecent Content” in the international journal New Journal of Law and Politics, which specializes in promoting academic research in the fields of law and politics. The research discusses the digital revolution that the world is currently experiencing and the accompanying changes and openness that have influenced societies, leading to the spread of certain behaviors that stray from moral values and religious teachings—commonly referred to as “indecent content.” The study sheds light on the definition and implications of this term and emphasizes the necessity of adopting comprehensive strategic approaches to confront this phenomenon. It also outlines the legal and Islamic principles followed by the Iraqi judiciary in addressing such content to preserve Islamic identity and moral values.
