On Thursday, July 31, 2025, Professor Dr. Ridwan Hussein Ibrahim, Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Ninevah, participated as a member and academic supervisor in the Master’s thesis defense held at the College of Nursing – University of Mosul. The thesis was submitted by student Ruba Shaker Ghanem Al-Taie, and was entitled:
“Factors Influencing Perceived Work-Life Balance Among Nurses: A Cross-Sectional Study in Mosul City Hospitals.”
The defense session was attended by the Dean of the College of Nursing at the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Tahseen Mohsen Hussein, along with several faculty members and students.
This study falls within the framework of achieving Goal 4 of the Sustainable Development Goals (Quality Education), aiming to identify the key factors affecting work-life balance among nursing staff in Mosul hospitals. The results showed that work pressure, working hours, and marital status were among the most significant factors. A positive correlation was found between longer working hours and poor work-life balance. The study also highlighted that schedule flexibility and administrative support are contributing factors to improving this balance.

The session featured an in-depth academic discussion, during which several scholarly observations were raised, enriching the thesis and enhancing its academic quality. The committee also commended the efforts of the academic supervisor, Professor Dr. Ridwan Hussein Ibrahim, for his continuous support and guidance throughout the research process.
At the conclusion of the session, the committee decided to award Ruba Shaker Ghanem Al-Taie the degree of Master of Science in Nursing, after completing the recommended revisions.
