A master’s thesis was discussed at the College of Electronics Engineering / Department of Computer and Informatics Engineering, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025, by the student Manar Talal Mohammed Ali, entitled:
“Machine Learning Enabled Signal Processing for Communication Systems”
This thesis was conducted in line with the directives of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, to foster openness and cooperation with international universities. The research represents a collaborative effort between the University of Ninevah and Nottingham Trent University in the United Kingdom. The discussion was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, and the Dean of the College of Electronics Engineering, Prof. Dr. Khalid Khalil Mohammed.
The thesis introduced In-Band Full Duplex (IBFD) communication technology as a solution to enhance spectral efficiency and productivity, especially in bandwidth-constrained environments.
The study aimed to apply machine learning-based self-interference cancellation (SIC) techniques to effectively mitigate self-interference (SI) signals imposed by IBFD communications.
The findings of the study concluded that machine learning-based SIC techniques demonstrated a significant improvement in cancellation rate and spectral efficiency, leading to an overall enhancement in system performance compared to conventional techniques.
