A master’s thesis was discussed at the University of Ninevah / College of Electronics Engineering / Department of Communications Engineering by the student Manal Salah Sadeeq on wednesday, June 18, 2025, entitled:
“Physical Layer Authentication for Internet of Things Communication Networks”
The discussion was attended by the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed.
The study focused on leveraging physical layer features, such as Channel State Information (CSI), to provide lightweight and secure authentication for IoT devices without the need for traditional cryptographic keys. It also explored the use of federated learning techniques to reduce the load on central devices and enhance data privacy.
The thesis concluded that combining physical layer characteristics with federated learning enables accurate and efficient device authentication. It was also found that authentication accuracy depends on the number of cooperating devices and the location of the central device, highlighting the importance of spatial system design.
