The master’s thesis of student Raghda Mahfouz Younis in the College of Electronics Engineering/Department of Electronics Engineering, titled “Multilevel Inverter for Sensor-less Direct Torque Control (DTC) of an Asynchronous Machine,” focused on asynchronous induction motors, which have garnered significant attention in industries due to their ease of implementation and application despite some challenges associated with their complex control mechanisms. As a result, the Direct Torque Control (DTC) technique emerged as an efficient and direct control method.
The main objectives of the study were to analyze the efficiency, advantages, and disadvantages of two-level and three-level inverters, to study and design the SVPWM technique for both two-level and three-level inverters, and to study and design the DTC technique for an induction motor using a three-level inverter with various modulation techniques.
