The University of Baghdad hosted on Monday, September 8, 2025, the activities of the National Erasmus+ Info Day, organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research in cooperation with the European Union Delegation in Iraq.
The President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, participated in the event, along with the Vice President for Scientific Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, and the Director of the Department of Scholarships and Cultural Relations at our university.
In his speech during the event, the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, emphasized that cooperation programs with the European Union represent a vital space for advancing higher education and scientific research. He explained that these programs provide faculty members with opportunities to enhance their expertise and expand their research fields, enable students to engage in multicultural educational experiences, and open broad knowledge horizons for researchers. They also empower administrative staff to gain modern organizational experience in university education management and institutional governance.
The Minister confirmed that the Ministry has established specialized formations to follow up on Erasmus+ programs and has approved the establishment of units in every Iraqi university to serve as active contact centers. These units aim to transform international partnerships into educational and research projects that contribute to strengthening the position of Iraqi universities in the global academic landscape.
The event also included a scientific presentation by the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Dr. Haider Abdul-Dahd, on academic cooperation and internationalization through Erasmus+, a speech delivered by the Deputy Head of the EU Delegation in Baghdad, Mr. Adam Jansen, as well as the honoring of a number of Erasmus+ program experts and international academic figures.
