“Research Ethics and Rigorous Publishing Practices in the Age of Artificial Intelligence”An Academic Course Organized by the College of Medicine

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and upon the directive of the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Mu’min Junaid Al-Dabouni, the College of Medicine – University of Nineveh, in cooperation with the Nineveh Health Directorate, organized an advanced scientific course in research methodology entitled “Research Ethics and Rigorous Publishing Practices in the Age of Artificial Intelligence.” The course was held over two days, on December 7–8, 2025, in the scientific hall of the College.

The course aimed to empower researchers with modern scientific research tools, enhance academic publishing skills, and promote the responsible use of artificial intelligence in the field of medical research.

The first day featured a scientific session chaired by Professor Dr. Nashwan Mustafa Al-Hafidh and Dr. Moataz Al-Ani, with the participation of a number of faculty members. The lectures addressed the concept of scientific research as a hidden force in shaping the future, along with an introductory presentation on the University of Nineveh Journal of Medical Sciences. This was followed by an in-depth discussion of health research ethics and the researcher’s role in adhering to professional and humanitarian standards when conducting clinical and medical studies. The session concluded with an open discussion with the audience on the challenges faced by researchers in this field.

The second day was chaired by Assistant Professor Dr. Saad Younis Al-Ghabsha and included specialized lectures focusing on how to employ artificial intelligence in scientific research without compromising the originality of academic work. It also covered the procedures for completing research approval forms at the Nineveh Health Directorate, in addition to a comprehensive overview of artificial intelligence applications in research design and data analysis.

At the conclusion of the course, words of appreciation and gratitude were extended to the lecturers and participants, with emphasis on the importance of continuing such courses to consolidate a culture of rigorous scientific publishing and to build effective research partnerships between the College of Medicine and the Nineveh Health Directorate, in service of the community and the development of the health sector in the governorate.
