The College of Medicine at the University of Ninevah, in cooperation with the Technical Institute of Medicine – Mosul, held a scientific seminar entitled
“Awareness of Antibiotic Resistance,”
at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, 4 December 2025, in the College’s scientific hall, as part of the activities of the World Antibiotic Awareness Week.
The seminar aimed to shed light on the issue of antibiotic resistance, which represents one of the major global health challenges, explaining its causes and ways to reduce it, while emphasizing the importance of rational antibiotic use in health institutions and the wider community.
The seminar’s lectures were delivered by:
• Assistant Lecturer Wael Munir Mohammed Sadiq – Technical Institute of Medicine / Mosul
• Assistant Lecturer Ne’am Nafe’ Jameel
• Assistant Lecturer Mohammed Luqman
The seminar program included, in addition to theoretical lectures, a practical application session for students of the Technical Institute of Medicine on selected laboratory procedures related to diagnosing antibiotic-resistant bacteria. This was followed by a tour of the laboratories of the College of Medicine to view the devices and technologies used in this field, which contributed to strengthening the practical component and linking theoretical content with laboratory-based application.
At the conclusion of the seminar, the Dean thanked the lecturers and participating students for their engagement. The College of Medicine affirmed its commitment to continuing joint scientific activities that enhance students’ health and scientific awareness and support their skills in medical and laboratory practice.
