Under the patronage and presence of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and under the supervision of the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, Assistant Professor Dr. Mayser Al-Qutaji, the College of Pharmacy at the University of Ninevah held its scientific symposium titled “The Iraqi Pharmaceutical Industry” on Monday, February 17, 2025. The event coincided with the conclusion of the first training course for preparing industrial pharmacists.
The symposium witnessed the presence of key figures, including the representative of the President of the Pharmacists Syndicate in Iraq, Asst.Prof. Dr. Khaled Kazem Al-Kinani, the representative of the General Director of the Nineveh Health Directorate, the Pharmacists Syndicate of Mosul, Dr. Marwan Hazem Al-Taie, and the Director of the Intravenous Solutions Factory in Mosul, Dr. Ikram Abdullah Basheer. Other notable attendees included the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Noor University, Asst. Prof. Dr. Omar Al-Laila, the Dean of the College of Pharmacy at Al-Hadbaa University, Professor Dr. Fares Al-Abayji, as well as a group of professors and researchers in the pharmaceutical field.
The symposium began with an opening speech delivered by the Dean of the College of Pharmacy, followed by a scientific session that featured two lectures. The first lecture, presented by Assistant Professor Dr. Khaled Kazem Al-Kinani, highlighted the latest advancements in the pharmaceutical industry. The second lecture, delivered by Dr. Thamer Abdul-Jabbar, focused on “Continuous Pharmaceutical Processes: Advantages and Challenges,” discussing the benefits and challenges of continuous pharmaceutical manufacturing processes. The session also included a video presentation illustrating the role of industrial pharmacists in advancing the pharmaceutical sector.
A discussion session was held as part of the symposium, exploring ways to strengthen partnerships between academic and industrial institutions to contribute to the development of Iraq’s pharmaceutical industry.
The symposium concluded with the presentation of a commemorative shield to the President of the University, who, in turn, awarded honorary shields to the participants. The Dean of the College of Pharmacy also presented shields and certificates of appreciation to the attendees, wishing the College of Pharmacy continued success and progress.
