In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Ninevah,Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani,
Dr. Uday Shihab Al-Abbadi, Head of the Human Rights Division at our university, participated in a dialogue session organized by the Iraqi High Commission for Human Rights,
on the occasion of the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, under the theme:
“The Dangers of Drugs and Their Impact on Human Rights.”
The session was attended by Judge Mr. Yasser Mohammed Al-Qaddo, representatives from the Ninawa Directorate for Drug Control and Psychotropic Substances,
as well as human rights officers from universities in Nineveh, a number of decision-makers, government and security institutions, and various segments of the local community in Nineveh Province.
The session highlighted the psychological, health, and social risks of drug use on Iraqi society, particularly in Nineveh. It also addressed the efforts made by the Iraqi judiciary, security institutions, and universities to combat this dangerous phenomenon through community awareness and the development of scientific strategies to prevent its spread.
