On Sunday, October 13th, 2024, the Ninevah University Council, represented by its president, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani. In the presence of all members of the University Council and an elite group of university professors, the Iraqi Minister of Immigration and Displacement, Ms. Ivan Faiq Jabro, was present accompanied by the Technical Deputy Governor of Nineveh, Mr. Omar Namq Al-Mawla, and the Director of the Department of Immigration and Displacement in Nineveh, the legal activist, Khaled Abdul Karim Al-Obaidi.
Al-Mashhadani and the members of the University Council welcomed the visit of Her Excellency the Minister and her accompanying delegation, providing an introductory overview of the university and the paradigm shift the university has witnessed in a short period of time, and the Ministry’s confidence in assigning it to establish Sinjar University (removed “the”), pointing out the services that are provided by the university to the community, the most prominent of which is related to the inclusion of university professors with expertise in the Nineveh Volunteer Team and the Special Committee for the Rehabilitation of the Displaced in Al-Hol Camp, in cooperation with the Department of Migration and Displacement and relevant state institutions.
Meanwhile, Her Excellency the Minister praised the scientific and academic reputation of the University of Ninevah, represented by its President, and what he has accomplished during the past period with the university professors and staff, expressing the Ministry’s intention to sign a cooperation agreement with the university that embodies joint efforts in the field of rehabilitating the displaced and integrating them into society. Al-Mashhadani, on his part, confirmed the university’s readiness to sign a future cooperation agreement and hold subsequent meetings to overcome obstacles and work challenges.
At the end of the meeting, the University of Nineveh shield and a bouquet of flowers were presented to Her Excellency the Minister by the president of the university, encouraging her to keep up the good work in serving the people of our beloved country.
