Under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, and as part of the activities of the Women’s Affairs Unit at the university presidency, the unit organized an awareness workshop titled “The Phenomenon of Suicide: Causes… and Solutions” on Wednesday, 19 November 2025.
The workshop was delivered by Asst. Lecturer Watfa Diaa Yaseen from the Legal Affairs Department, with the attendance of a number of university staff and students.
The workshop addressed the most prominent causes contributing to the rise of suicide rates, in addition to topics related to legal, social, and psychological approaches to addressing the issue. It also emphasized the importance of early awareness and strengthening community support to reduce the spread of this phenomenon.
This workshop comes as part of the university’s efforts to promote community awareness and reinforce a culture of psychological and social support within the university environment, in line with its mission to spread knowledge and address issues that concern young people.
Through such activities, the university reaffirms its commitment to creating a healthy and safe campus environment and providing educational programs that help reduce negative behaviors and support students in facing the psychological and behavioral challenges that may affect their academic and personal lives.
