The College of Medicine at the University of Ninevah hosted a specialized workshop on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, titled “Enhancing the Efficiency of National Resident Teams” for medical colleges across Iraq. The event was held under the patronage and presence of the President of the University of Ninevah, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and supervised by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Assistant Professor Dr. Moamen Junaid Al-Dabbouni. The two-day workshop is part of a broader effort to support and strengthen the capacities of national resident teams in implementing quality standards and institutional accreditation.
The workshop was attended by several prominent academic figures, most notably Professor Dr. Muzahim Al-Khayat, Chairman of the Parliamentary Committee on Higher Education; Professor Dr. Waheed Mahmoud Al-Ibrahimi, President of the University of Mosul; Professor Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, Vice President for Scientific Affairs at the University of Ninevah; and Dr. Yusra Abdul Rahman, Chair of the National Council for Accreditation of Medical Colleges in Iraq, along with a number of experts in medical education.
In his opening speech, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani emphasized that such activities reflect a clear direction towards enhancing institutional accreditation and continuously developing the educational system, which will improve the outcomes of medical education in Iraq and align them with international standards.
For his part, Assistant Professor Dr. Moamen Junaid Al-Dabbouni, Dean of the College of Medicine at the University of Ninevah, stated that the workshop represents an important turning point in raising the level of medical education in Iraq, contributing to improving the efficiency of doctors and enhancing the quality of healthcare services.
The workshop covered various key themes aimed at developing the skills of national resident teams in implementing quality standards and institutional accreditation, ultimately contributing to the enhancement of medical education quality in Iraqi medical colleges and meeting accreditation requirements.
