University of Ninevah Organizes an Awareness Seminar Titled (Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism)

Under the patronage of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and with the attendance of the University’s Administrative Affairs Assistant, Prof. Dr. Ammar Saadoun Hamid, along with a large number of university staff and students, the university held an awareness seminar titled (Combating Violent Extremism Leading to Terrorism) on Monday, February 17, 2025, in the auditorium of the College of Pharmacy.

The seminar was organized by the Monitoring Department, in collaboration with the Media and Government Communication Department and the Security Center for Universities and Institutes of Nineveh Province.

A distinguished group of officers from the Iraqi National Security Agency in Baghdad delivered the seminar. The main objective was to shed light on the role of universities in fostering and promoting social peace and combating violent extremism leading to terrorism. The seminar also included recommendations on how to address and counter extremist ideologies to build a cohesive society that thrives on human values and coexistence, ensuring societal peace among all community groups.

During his meeting with the speakers, the University President highlighted the ongoing efforts of the university to conduct numerous awareness and educational activities addressing negative phenomena. He emphasized the importance of instilling sound thinking and noble values in students and the broader community.

At the conclusion of the seminar, the University President presented letters of appreciation to the speakers, commending the efforts of the National Security Agency staff and the Security Center for Universities and Institutes of Nineveh Province. He expressed his gratitude for their continued dedication and wished them ongoing success in serving the nation.
