Upon the kind invitation of the President of the Northern Technical University, Professor Dr. Alia Al-Attar, and in the presence of the representative of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Director of the Research and Development Department, Professor Dr. Lubna Khamis, as well as the President of Al-Hamdaniya University, Professor Dr. Nashaat Sliwa, assistant university presidents for scientific affairs, and directors of continuing education centers from all Iraqi public and private universities,
The University of Ninevah participated in the activities of the First International Forum of Continuing Education Centers in Iraqi Universities, organized by the Northern Technical University on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, under the slogan:
“Continuing Education… Renewed Horizons for Leading and Sustainable Iraqi Universities.”
The university was represented at the forum by the President of the University of Ninevah, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, accompanied by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, and the Director of the Continuing Education Center, Dr. Abeer Mansour.
The forum opened with a speech delivered on behalf of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research by Professor Dr. Lubna Khamis, who emphasized the importance of integration among continuing education centers in both public and private universities, and the need to keep pace with modern developments to enhance the reality and performance of Iraqi universities.
In her address, Professor Dr. Alia Al-Attar, President of the Northern Technical University, highlighted the significance of joint cooperation and openness to international universities to exchange expertise and develop strategies that strengthen the role of continuing education centers and advance them toward excellence.
The forum featured three main lectures:
• The first was delivered by the Director of the Continuing Education Center at the University of Baghdad.
• The second lecture was presented by Professor Dr. Fian Ahmed from the American University of Sharjah.
• The third was given by Professor Dr. Rami from the University of Bradford, United Kingdom.
Following the lectures, a panel discussion was held with the participation of the Director of the Research and Development Department, the President of the University of Nineveh, and the President of the Northern Technical University. The session discussed ways to develop the performance of continuing education centers in Iraqi universities and to expand their fields of work in line with the needs of modern education and training.
At the conclusion of the forum, plaques of appreciation were presented to the participants in recognition of their contributions and efforts in making this distinguished international event a success.
