Under the patronage and presence of the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Professor Dr. Naeem Al-Aboudi, the Iraq Higher Education Conference 2025 in its second edition commenced on Saturday, October 11, 2025. The event witnessed wide participation from presidents of public and private Iraqi universities, deans of colleges, researchers, academics, as well as international experts and representatives from Times, Clarivate, Elsevier, QS, and the Egyptian Knowledge Bank.
The University of Ninevah took part in the conference activities with a delegation headed by the University President, Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, accompanied by the Assistant President for Scientific Affairs, Professor Dr. Jaafar Ramadan Mohammed, and the Director of the Quality Assurance and University Performance Department, Assistant Professor Dr. Saba Abdul-Salam Hamed, along with a distinguished group of academics and researchers from various Iraqi universities.
In his opening speech, the Minister of Higher Education emphasized that Iraqi universities have entered a new stage of achievement and leadership thanks to the qualitative transformation in the philosophy of higher education over recent years, which has elevated them to international recognition and global ranking systems.
The conference aims to discuss the modernization of educational policies in light of digital transformation and labor market requirements, explore mechanisms for developing curricula and postgraduate programs, and promote scientific research and innovation. It also seeks to support applied research contributing to the achievement of sustainable development goals, thereby enhancing employment opportunities and entrepreneurship in Iraq.
The first day of the conference concluded with the presentation of Distinguished Researcher Awards to a number of scholars and the honoring of outstanding scientific associations, namely: the Iraqi Association for Medical Research and Studies, the Iraqi Mathematical Society, and the National Forum Association for Thought and Culture Research.
