University of Ninevah Participates in the workshop Titled “Media Misinformation and Its Impact on Community Security”

In accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Ninevah, Prof. Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, and upon the kind invitation of the Ninevah Police Directorate, represented by its commander, Major General Falah Al-Jarba,

The University of Ninevah participated on the evening of Sunday, May 18, 2025, in the activities of the workshop titled “Media Misinformation and Its Impact on Community Security”, organized by the VIN Foundation for Human Rights, in coordination with the Ninevah Directorate of Intelligence and Counterterrorism, and under the patronage of the Ninevah Police Directorate.

Representing the President of the University of Ninevah, the Dean of the College of Nursing, Prof. Dr. Ridwan Hussein Ibrahim, and the Director of the Media and Government Communication Department at our university, Mr. Tawfiq Younis Ali, attended the workshop. The event was also attended by directors of security and service departments, along with a distinguished group of religious scholars and media professionals from Ninevah Governorate.

The workshop included speeches and lectures presented by participants, focusing on defining the phenomenon of media misinformation and highlighting its dangers to community security and peace. The discussions explained how such misinformation can lead to conflicts, disputes, and the breakdown of the societal structure. The workshop also featured extensive discussions on how to reduce this phenomenon through legislation, reforming media practices, and promoting a unified, moderate discourse that enhances transparency, national unity, and contributes to societal development and progress.

The workshop concluded with important recommendations that will be submitted to the relevant authorities, and ended with the distribution of participation certificates to the contributing and supporting entities. we extend our wishes for continued prosperity and progress for our beloved country.
