Under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Dr. Naeem Abdul Yasser Al-Aboudi, the Department of Student Activities at the Directorate of Supervision and Scientific Evaluation organized the University Scout Camp for Rovers, hosted by the Northern Technical University in cooperation with the University of Nineveh and a number of other Iraqi public and private universities and colleges.
The Rover Crew of the University of Ninevah achieved second place among Iraqi universities and colleges at the conclusion of the Sustainability Scout Camp (Rovers), held on the campus of the Northern Technical University in Kirkuk Province from October 29 to November 2, 2025.
Dr. Tamara Riyadh Thanoon, Director of the Department of Student Activities, stated that this achievement, led by Scout Leader Mr. Amer Aoun Al-Din Mohammed, represents the fruit of dedicated efforts and reflects an honorable representation of the university. She also expressed her gratitude and appreciation to the university presidency for its continued support of the department and its commitment to developing students’ skills and capabilities.
The scout camp featured a range of activities and events in which the University of Ninevah’s Rover Crew participated enthusiastically, including:
• Morning exercises and flag-raising ceremonies.
• Specialized lectures on the global scouting movement and sustainability concepts.
• Pioneering works using ropes and poles, including tent setup.
• Scout games and skill-based challenges.
• A rover expedition through the forests of Altun Kupri in Kirkuk Province.
The camp concluded with the university receiving the Hosting Shield and Certificates of Participation for the Rover Crew. This active participation embodies the University of Ninevah’s mission to support extracurricular activities and to foster the values of sustainability, responsibility, and community service among its students.
