In line with the directives of the President of the University of Ninevah, Professor Dr. Osama Ismail Al-Mashhadani, aimed at strengthening international academic presence and opening up to global university experiences, the University of Ninevah participated in the Academic Forum of European and Asian Universities (EURAS), held at Al-Mustaqbal University in Babylon Governorate on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
The university’s participation comes as part of its efforts to expand prospects for scientific and research cooperation, particularly in the fields of academic exchange, joint research projects, and training and capacity-building programs, in alignment with the directions of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research toward the internationalization of education.
The forum was attended by a number of Iraqi university presidents, along with leading academics and experts in higher education and internationalization. The University of Ninevah was represented by Assistant Professor Dr. Laith Rabih Al-Sofi, Director of the Scholarships and Cultural Relations Department, and Dr. Sarmad Fakhr Al-Din, Head of the Cultural Relations Division.
The forum included panel discussions and workshops addressing mechanisms for developing international partnerships, ensuring academic quality, and fostering innovation in higher education, contributing to improving higher education outcomes and strengthening the position of Iraqi universities in international rankings and forums.
