Scientific Visit of the Educational College Delegation to the College of Information Technology at the University of Nineveh

On Wednesday, April 30, 2025, the College of Information Technology welcomed a delegation from the Educational College as part of a visit aimed at enhancing scientific collaboration and knowledge exchange between the two academic institutions.

The visiting delegation was received by Dr. Maysar Al-Dali, the Assistant Dean for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Ali Mohsen, the Head of the Software Department; and Asst. Lect. Ali Khairi, the Rapporteur of the Computer Networks and Internet Department.

The visit commenced with a welcoming address by Dr. Maysar Al-Dali, who provided a comprehensive overview of the college, discussing its academic journey and significant development since its establishment. He also reviewed the scientific departments within the college and the programs offered to prepare specialized personnel that meet labor market demands and contribute to community service.

This was followed by a speech from Dr. Ali Mohsen, Head of the Software Department, who addressed the fundamental transformations occurring globally due to rapid advancements in information technology. He highlighted the various specializations within this vital field, such as software development, computer networks and the Internet, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and other related disciplines. He emphasized that the college keeps pace with these changes through modern academic curricula that integrate theoretical foundations with practical applications. He also noted the college’s contributions to innovation and scientific research, including organizing the Fourth Programming Competition for students of the University of Nineveh and participating in the organization of the First International Scientific Conference titled “Innovations in Information Technology and Their Impact on Sustainable Development,” in collaboration with Al-Nour University.

As part of the scientific program for the visit, Dr. Zainab Saadi delivered an advanced lecture on Software Engineering, focusing on contemporary trends in software design and quality assurance, while highlighting the role of artificial intelligence in developing intelligent software systems and encouraging students to adopt systematic and professional methodologies in software development.
Additionally, Asst. Lect. Safa Sabah presented an introductory
lecture on the principles of Software Engineering, covering the foundational concepts and essential practices in software development, as well as prominent methodologies employed in the industry. She pointed out the significance of this specialization in addressing contemporary digital challenges through effective technological solutions.

The visit also included a tour of the college’s laboratories, where laboratory officials provided comprehensive explanations regarding the available technical infrastructure and the educational functions of each laboratory. These laboratories represent one of the most critical pillars of practical training adopted by the college to prepare its students for contemporary labor market demands.

At the conclusion of the visit, the visiting delegation expressed their high appreciation for the warm reception and commended the advanced scientific level provided by the college. They underscored the importance of continuing such scientific initiatives that enrich academic aspects and enhance opportunities for mutual collaboration.
