Prof. Dr. Maisar Mohammed Ali Al-Qutaji.On Wednesday, April 3rd, 2024, the Scientific Affairs Unit at the College of Pharmacy organized a lecture via Zoom on the topic of Biologic Drugs (Mab Biologics).The lecture was delivered by Assistant Professor from the University of Strathclyde, UK, Dr. Zahra Rattray, in the presence of the Dean of the college, assistant deans, faculty members, and students.The lecture began with a comprehensive explanation of biologic drugs, their components, and their production from living sources such as bacteria, animal cells, or plant cells, unlike traditional chemical drugs which are manufactured from small molecules. Biologic drugs are made from large and complex molecules such as proteins and antibodies.Biologic drugs are expected to play an increasing role in disease treatment in the future with the continued advancements in biology and genetic engineering, as they are expected to be more effective and less costly.The lecture garnered great interest from the attendees who expressed their admiration for its content and presentation style, confirming its success in achieving its objectives and motivating participants to engage through asking numerous questions and inquiries…May success be granted by God.
