University of Ninevah Faculty Member Participates in a Master’s Thesis Defense Committee at the University of Mosul

As part of strengthening academic and scientific cooperation between the University of Ninevah and the University of Mosul, Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Mohammed, Assistant Dean of the College of Nursing for Administrative and Financial Affairs at the University of Ninevah, participated as a member of a Master’s thesis defense committee in the Department of English, College of Education for Humanities, University of Mosul, on Sunday, August 2, 2026.

The thesis, entitled:

A Socio-Cognitive Critical Discourse Analysis of Mohamed Tahir’s Social Media Discourse on Gaza

examined the representation of human suffering and ideological polarization in Dr. Mohamed Tahir’s discourse on Gaza across Instagram and X (formerly Twitter), employing Teun A. van Dijk’s Socio-Cognitive Approach to Critical Discourse Analysis.

The examination committee consisted of:

  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ziyad Rakan Qasim, University of Mosul, College of Education for Humanities – Chairperson.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Omar Ali Al-Yas, University of Mosul, College of Education for Humanities – Member.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Khalid Ibrahim Mohammed, University of Nineveh, College of Nursing – Member.
  • Assistant Professor Dr. Ismail Fathi Hussein, University of Mosul, College of Arts – Member and Supervisor.
