Our university held on Monday, May 6, 2024, the First International Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism under the slogan “The Role of the University in Building Societal Values – Nineveh Province as a Model”, in collaboration with the National Security Advisory Council, the Consultative Office for Dialogue and Reconciliation Affairs, and the Popular Mobilization Authority, for the period from May 6th to 7th, 2024.
The conference was attended by the representative of Nineveh Governorate, the Vice President of the Court of Appeal, Judge Dr. Ahmed Al-Harithi, representatives from the Nineveh Operations Command and the National Security Advisory Council, the Deputy Commander of the Popular Mobilization Forces, and the President of Al-Nour University, Dr. Yassin Taha Al-Hajjar, as well as representatives from the Sunni and Shia Endowments, a select group of college deans and professors, religious figures, and city dignitaries.
The conference opened on its first day with introductory remarks by the President of our university, emphasizing that terrorism has multiple faces and is not confined to any religion or sect. He stressed the importance of universities in educating and enlightening youth and building a sound societal values system, equipping them with knowledge and awareness against extremist ideologies. This was followed by speeches from the participating entities in the conference and a speech from the Chairman of the Preparatory Committee, the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Jafar Ramadan Mohammed, providing an overview of the conference and the (10) research papers presented by researchers from various Iraqi universities and universities in Morocco and Algeria.
The first day of the conference included a panel discussion chaired by the Dean of the College of Medicine, Prof. Dr. Moamin Janid Al-Duboni, with participation from the faculty member at the College of Law, Dr. Naamat Mustafa Mohammed, and attended by the Vice President of the Court of Appeal, Judge Dr. Ahmed Al-Harithi, a representative from the National Security Advisory Council, and a representative from the Sunni Endowment. The session discussed and defined terrorism and extremism, their types, and ways to combat them from religious, legislative, and legal perspectives.
The conference concluded its first day with important recommendations to be submitted to relevant authorities, and concluded with the distribution of participation shields to the participating entities, wishing for the continued security and peace for the people of our beloved country.
[9:52 am, 07/05/2024] أستاذ توفيق : The Nursing College at the University of Nineveh organizes an outstanding course on women’s reproductive health, in accordance with the directives of the President of the University of Nineveh, Professor Dr. Osama Al-Mashhadani, under the supervision of the Dean of the Nursing College, Professor Dr. Radwan Hussein Ibrahim.
The Nursing College at the University of Nineveh organized a comprehensive course on women’s reproductive health aimed at raising awareness and educating the community about this vital topic.
The course lasted for three days, during which Assistant lecturer Rafah Raad Abdul Salam and Assistant lecturer Abdul Rahman Mazen Hashem delivered a series of lectures and discussions.
The course covered a range of important and useful topics, including the importance of women’s reproductive health, methods of maintaining reproductive health, available contraceptive methods, sexually transmitted diseases and prevention methods, women’s and girls’ rights in reproductive health, the role of men in promoting reproductive health, the importance of health education in this context, and the use of technology to raise awareness about these issues.
This course is part of the continuous efforts made by the Nursing College to promote awareness of public health issues and educate the community about various aspects, with the aim of ensuring the health of community members.
