University of Ninevah Students Participate in the “MedStars” Initiative at Medico 2026

Students from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at the College of Electronics Engineering, University of Ninevah, participated in the “MedStars” initiative as part of the activities of Medico 2026, held in Erbil from 11–14 August 2026.

The department’s students participated after their team was selected to secure two booths out of 18 competitive spots, presenting two innovative projects that demonstrate the integration of engineering and modern technologies into the medical field:

🔹 Medical Mechanical Models (Heart and Eye)
Presented by students Yousif Shamil and Faisal Ahmed, the project features moving mechanical models that simulate muscle movements, contributing to presenting anatomical concepts in an interactive and innovative way.

🔹 3D Printing in Medical Solutions and Training
Presented by students Yousif Shamil and Mohammed Nawfal, the project includes models of customized cranial implants, veterinary prosthetic limbs, and an MRI simulator, in addition to training models that enable surgeons to simulate and practice procedures before performing actual operations.

Student Awab Hassan also contributed to coordinating the booths and providing organizational and technical support to the team.

This participation reflects the academic excellence and creativity of University of Ninevah students, as well as the University’s commitment to supporting their innovative projects and encouraging their participation in scientific and technological events and exhibitions, thereby enhancing the University’s presence in specialized academic and professional forums.
